THIS MAJOR ALTERATION CONSISTS OF THE MODIFICATION TO THE AIRCRAFT FUEL SYSTEM TO INCORPORATE A TEMPORARY EXTENDED RANGE FUEL AND OIL SYSTEM CONSISTING OF THREE ALUMINUM FERRY FUEL TANKS, ONE FUEL SELECTOR VALVE MANIFOLD AND ASSOCIATED FERRY FUEL FEED LINES AND FITTINGS. THE OIL SYSTEM IS A HAND PUMP SYSTEM, WITH ONE ENGINE FEED SELECTOR VALVE. THE SYSTEM IS REQURIED TO EXTEND THE RANGE FOR A FLIGHT FROM HAWAII TO SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA. THIS MAJOR ALTERATION WILL CONSISTS OF REMOVING THE AIRCRAFT PASSENGER SEATS, FURNISHINGS AND EQUIPMENT, AS REQUIRED, FROM THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND INSTALLING A TEMPORARY FERRY FUEL SYSTEM IN THE CABIN COMPARTMENT AND NOSE BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT. THE TEMPORARY FERRY FUEL SYSTEM WILL BE CONNECTED TO THE AIRCRAFT MAIN FUEL SYSTEM. THE FERRY FUEL TANK SYSTEMCONSISTS OF ONE 181 GALLON TANK, ONE 14 GALLON AND ONE 46 GALLON TANK.THIS PROVIDES A TOTAL OF 241 GALLONS OF FERRY FUEL 343 GALLONS TOTAL. OIL SYSTEM TRANSFERS OIL DIRECTLY TO OIL RETURN LINES ON THE ENGINE. NUMBER ONE 46 GALLONS COPILOT SEAT AREA STATION 85. NUMBER TWO 181 GALLONS CENTERED STATION 122. NUMBER THREE 14 GALLONS NOSE BAGGAGE COMPT. STA. 42. THE TANKS ARE RECTANGULAR IN DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTED FROM 5052 ALUMINUM .100 INCHES THICK BY ROYALL MANUFACTURING OF PLACERVILLE, CALIFORNIA. THE TANKS ARE PRESSURE AND LEAKED CHECKED AS PER PERTINENT FARS. THE TANKS ARE ELECTRICALLY GROUNDED TO AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE. THE TANKS ARE VENTED TO POSITIVE AIR PRESSURE, THROUGH A VENT SYSTEM AND CONNECT TO FITTING LOCATED ON A VENT WINDOW PANEL ON THE PILOTS LEFT SIDE VENT WINDOW. THE TANKS ARE MOUNTED ON 3/8 INCH PLYWOOD PALLETS, AND THE CABIN TANK IS BLOCKED BY THE FORWARD SPAR |
