1. INSTALLED AUXILIARY FUEL TANK IN LEFT AND RIGHT GUN BAYS. BOTH GUNBAYS WERE LINED WITH .040 2024-T3. NEW 35 GAL CONFORMING FUEL BLADDERSWERE INSTALLED TO FIT THE ORIGINAL GUN BAY AREAS. BLADDERS WERE MANU- FACTURED BY AERO TECH SERVICES OF SANTA FE SPRINGS CA FAA REPAIR STA- TION A14R054M. INSTALLED ELECTRIC DRIVEN FUEL PUMPS CECO P/N 9147 WITH DELCO ELECTRIC MOTORS IN EACH WHEEL WELL. FUEL PRESSURE LINE WAS THEN ATTACHED TO ORIGINAL AUXILIARY FUEL TANK PLUMBING AND ROUTED TO LEFT AND RIGHT MAIN FUEL TANKS RESPECTIVELY. POWER TO THE PUMP MOTORS WAS SUPPLIED THROUGH 20 AMP CIRCUIT BREAKERS AND AN-TYPE SWITCHES. A PRESSURE ACTIVATED SWITCH WAS INSTALLED IN-LINE TO AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF THE ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP MOTORS WHEN THE AUX. TANKS ARE EMPTY. THE PRESSURE SWITCHES ARE SUPPLIED FROM THE J L OSBORNE COMPANY OF ORO GRANDE CA UNDER PN JL-01. THESE SAME PRESSURE SWITCHES ARE ALSO UTILIZED IN OTHER FAA APPROVED FUEL TANK INSTALLATIONS OF THIS TYPE. ALL WORK WAS ACCOMPLISHED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT FEDERAL AVIATION REGULATIONS AND NORTH AMERICAN P-51 MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS #AN 01- 60JE-2 SECTION IV PARAGRAPH 15. THE APPROVED AIRCRAFT FLIGHT MANUAL AND THE WEIGHT AND BALANCE INFORMATION WERE REVISED TO REFLECT THE OPERATIONAL CHANGES OF THIS ALTERATION.
