A TEMP FERRY FUEL SYSTEM IS INSTALLED, CONSISTING OF 4 ALUMINUM FERRY TANKS MOUNTED IN THE CABIN IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS, (1) 45 GAL TANKIN THE RIGHT SEAT AREA AT STATION 78, (1) 78 GAL TANK MOUNTED ON THE CENTER SECTION SPAR AREA AT STATION 107, (1) 84 GAL TANK MOUNTED ON THE CENTER SECTION FLOOR AREA AT STATION 125 AND (1) 45 GAL TANK MOUNTED IN REAR BAGGAGE AREA AT STATION 141 THAT IS REDUCED TO A MAX. OF 16 GALLONS, FOR C.G. RESTRICTIONS. THE REAR TANK MUST BE METER FUELED TO AVOID EXCEEDING C.G. AND WEIGHT LIMITS. THE COPILOT YOKE, COPILOT SEAT, REAR PASSENGER SEAT, CENTER CABIN FLOOR INSPECTION PANELAND CARPETS ARE REMOVED IAW PIPER PA44-180 SERVICE MANUAL. FERRY FUELTANKS WERE MANUFACTURED BY ROYAL INDUSTRIES OF PLACERVILLE, CA. THE TANKS ARE RECTANGULAR IN DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTED IAW ABYC H-24.18 (2-12) AND 46 CFR SEC 58.50(A) (4-6) FROM 5052 ALUM. .100" THICK IAW ABYC H-24 18.1 TANK MATERIALS. THE TANKS ARE DESIGNED AND WELDED TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF FAR 23.963(A). THE TANKS ARE GROUNDED TO THEAIRCRAFT STRUCTURE AND PRESSURE CHECKED AND LEAK CHECKED IAW FAR 23. 965(A)(1) 05-30-08 TO 3 PSI. TANKS ARE VENTED TO POSITIVE RAM AIR PRESSURE THROUGH A VENT SYSTEM FROM A SINGLE VENT FITTING IN AN ALUM. PLATE THAT IS SECURED IN THE PILOT VENT WINDOW. THERE IS A DUMP SYSTEM WITH A SEPARATE VALVE AND DUMP LINE THAT RUNS OUT THE LOWER FUSELAGE VENT OPENING. FERRY FUEL TANKS ARE POSITIONED ON 3/8" PLY- WOOD PALLET IN THE AFT CABIN AREA. TANKS ARE SECURED BY (6) 1800 LBS CARGO STRAPS SECURED TO 8 SEAT BELT AND CARGO TIE DOWN POINTS THROUGH-OUT THE REAR CABIN AREA AND TO CARGO SYSTEMS INC TSOD PIPER CARGO SEATRINGS MOUNTED ON THE FORWARD SEAT RAILS.
